REFLECTIONS:

  1. BUSHRA NAYAB:

The experience has been amazing and rewarding. It helped me in stabilizing my emotional and spiritual disparity, asking for help; asking for the underprivileged and the feeling that your effort will bring a shine on someone’s face is in itself a beautiful thought.

The methods used were mostly the social media apps, the target were those who were giving Zakat, so it was easier to convince them as they were already intending to give the money.

Also the strategy included directly asking them; not shying away or depending on the social media only. Due to the pandemic, I restricted to the people who I already knew or my relatives, as going out weren’t preferable much.

There were no specific challenges as I targeted only those whom I knew or the ones who were already willing to give the money.

Overall it was a very fulfilling and thought provoking experience.

2) NOUMAN NADEEM:

The experience was great of collecting funds for Edhi foundation. It helped me to get out of my comfort zone and ask people for help; asking for the help for the Edhi foundation is in itself a beautiful experience and a beautiful thought.

I first collected the funds on my own by asking people which were in my circle and out of the circle then combined it with the whole learning group. It was a different experience as I texted a lot of people and putted status on different social media apps.

The biggest challenge I faced was the Covid-19 as I was not able to go to the people direct and ask for money which would have been really helpful but I tried by best to overcome this challenge by using online apps like WhatsApp and Facebook.

This experience has helped me in accepting failure by many ways such as I was rejected for funds from most of the people, I contacted so I have to convince them that it is going for a Social cause and it will help a lot of people so it teaches me that we have to accept failure in our life and have to make a good strategy to make that failure into success.

3) SHAMLA AREEBA ALI:

When I heard about this project I became excited that its entirely new activity from which I will learn a lot. As expected, when I put my foot on the field for this activity, hundreds of fears stand around me. Firstly, fear of begging, it was an awkward thing for me. Another thing that the fear of being rejected if I will be rejected then what will I do? People asked the variety of questions from me, why are you doing? for which institute are you doing? what is the purpose of this activity? are you sure that this money will really give to Edhi foundation? etc. That too many questions which was asked by them make me fearful when I was giving answer. But it was a great experience for me. It was my first time I was going to make some contribution for Edhi foundation. When I stared it was difficult for me but some of my family members motivates me for this work. I visited my friends and relatives for fund collection because charity begins at home. I learned a lot from this activity and I will continue this cause in future.

And ignored by 38

4) TOUBA SABEEN:

When we’re given this task I was a bit nervous thinking of the target we were expected to aim at. But as soon as we set off to start, and a few donations made in our accounts, the sense of relief was real. It was then I could see us meeting our goal. And It was only then I knew it’s achievable. I could see all of my batch mates putting in efforts, creating posts for their social media accounts, generating slogans, hashtag for campaign, and writing blogs. The spirit with which all of this was being done was overwhelming and moving beyond words.

Me and my group members used similar strategies to pool in subscriptions. In the first week after being ignored and facing rejections, we still managed to collect a healthy sum of 25000 rupees altogether. But in the following week despite all those same efforts we did in the previous week we came down to nothing at all, which was pretty much disappointing for all of too.

If I put disappointment aside I can’t decline the fact that it my first volunteer experience that I enjoyed this much.

5) MUHAMMAD HUZAIFA JAWAD:

We as a batch was assigned a task to collect funds for Edhi foundation two weeks ago. It was a kind of new experience for me because I had never done this kind of voluntary work before. At first I was kind of hesitant because it was against my nature. It was very hard for me to ask money from someone but then I realized that I am not doing it for myself but for a great cause. So I buckled up for this challenge.

So I started by setting whatsapp status to reach out to my family and friends for donations. Also I texted everyone in my contact list for donations. I also contacted one of my friends he is member of an organization called H.O.P.E . There his work is also about collecting funds and donations. I also asked my friends to reach out to the people as well.

I faced a lot of challenges and hurdles during this activity. Almost everyone ignored or rejected it. It is mostly because where I lived a lot of people donate near their homes to the needy. So almost everyone answer was the same. There I felt how difficult must it had been for Edhi sahib. How much difficulties and rejection he must have been faced during his life still he struggled for this work. How determined he was for the work. These experiences has taught me a lot that life is very harsh and in order to succeed you must have to go through failure before. Now only those people will come on top who will not give up. In the end May Allah bless Edhi Sahab for his work for the humanity.

6) AROUSHA SULTAN:

My experience was so amazing and the expertise has been wonderful and rewardable. It helped me in controlling my emotions and without any non secular inequality iasked for donations.

Requesting help; requesting the unfortunate was a quite unique experience for me to get out of my comfort zone and therefore the feeling that your effort can bring a shine on someone’s face is in itself a beautiful thought.

The ways I used were largely the social media apps, the target I was mainly focusing on were people who are giving zakat, thus it absolutely was easier to convert them as they were already aspiring to provide the cash.

Also, the strategy enclosed directly asking them; not shying away or reckoning on the social media solely but mostly people were looking at status and ignoring it. Due to the pandemic, I was restricted to only those people who I already knew or my relatives or people on my social media apps, as going out weren’t desirable for a lot of us in this pandemic.

There were no specific challenges as I targeted solely those people who I already know but there are some people who were saying that we will directly send our zakat to Edhi, foundation without using any medium that was actually a challenge for me to convince them that each of their penny matters a lot.

PROGRESS REPORT:

DIFFICULTIES:

If we talk about the difficulty of the activity then only one thing comes into mind that if you want to do something then why you are afraid of difficulties. When we think about something difficult or the hurdles which might be possible to be faced during the activity, we stuck on our thinking and afraid of doing the task. Difficulties are the roads toward success.

When we started the activity it was like ‘how difficult it will be to ask people for funding? It will be embarrassing for us if someone refuses? It will just feel like beggar, etc. But when we were welcomed by 3–4 persons and the people was very willing to help us in the name of Edhi Sb, we got courage and enjoyed it.

It was felt difficult when we were refused by some people but these things are the part of every activity. If you don’t face difficulties in your work you are not getting a big reward of it. As a whole it was a great experience of collecting fund for Edhi Foundation and we did such a good deed.
